The Unchangeable Love of God

Psalm 125:1-2 (ESV)

1  Those who trust in the Lord are like Mount Zion,
which cannot be moved, but abides forever.
2  As the mountains surround Jerusalem,
so the Lord surrounds his people,
from this time forth and forevermore.

One of the things I love about living and working in The Valley is that I can almost always find my way home. The mountains that surround Burbank provide easy visual navigation. Going toward the mountain usually means I'm going toward my home. Going away from the mountain usually means I'm headed away from my home. The best thing about this is their constancy. Whenever I look, the mountain is always there. It never changes or moves.

God's love for his people never changes or moves. It surrounds the Christian always. Like a mountain, God's love is immovable. So in all of the circumstances in life: in joy, or in sorrow, we can remember the fact of God's unchanging love, and not be affected by our circumstances. This love from God is demonstrated in God so loving the world that he sent the Lord Jesus to live, die, and rise again. What a wonderful salvation!

With Covenant Church, we speak often of God's unchangeable love.
