Why Are We Starting a New Church in Burbank?

And Jesus came and said to them, “All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all that I have commanded you. And behold, I am with you always, to the end of the age.” (Matthew 28:18-20)

At Covenant Burbank, we're on mission to tell people about the good news of Jesus. How his coming to earth, living for his people, dying on a cross, and his resurrection offer forgiveness of sins, hope, joy, the opportunity to love one another in community in an amazing way, and much more. There are many people in Burbank and Los Angeles who have not heard the fullness of this good news about Jesus. A new church is best suited to share about Jesus with new people because the unique outreach, preaching, worship style, meeting locations and times, and the people themselves who join the church will connect with different people in different circles.

My wife and I recently put a hummingbird feeder up on our porch. Our neighborhood already has many hummingbird feeders, but we thought it would be nice to add another anyway. We don't know why, but some hummingbirds seem to love our feeder. The same three or four hummingbirds visit every day. Perhaps it's the shade that our porch provides, or perhaps the perch of the feeder is nice and stable. Whatever the reason, an environment has been created that appeals to a certain number of particular hummingbirds.

Perhaps you too are on mission to tell people about Jesus. Or perhaps we meet in your neighborhood. Or perhaps a friend has invited you to come and check us out. Whatever the reason, we look forward to meeting you!
