New Year, New You?
“Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation. The old has passed away; behold, the new has come.” (2 Corinthians 5:17, ESV)
Dear friends,
There's no better opportunity than this New Year to let God change your life by recommitting yourself to him in your trust on the Lord Jesus.
This is an opportunity for you, dear believer! Rejoice in the Lord!
Regarding God
Do you feel distant from God right now? Are you distant from God right now?
You must take this opportunity to return to God in this New Year in Christ.
Consider carefully these words of God from the prophet Zechariah:
“Therefore say to them, Thus declares the Lord of hosts: Return to me, says the Lord of hosts, and I will return to you, says the Lord of hosts.” (Zechariah 1:3, ESV)
God says to you today, "Return to me."
And subsequently God says as well, "And I will return to you."
This is grace and love. And it's ready for you, dear believer in Jesus.
God's people return to God by committing afresh to a turning back from sin and walking with Christ by God's grace through faith in Jesus.
Consider in your mind a picture of the Christian you'd like to be. Full of joy. Full of peace. Full of godliness. Full of Christ. And this New Year, live that way! Return to God by living in every aspect for his glory.
Draw near to God in Christ and he will draw near to you.
Trust on the Lord in repentance and faith. Pray. Read the Scriptures. Live to God's glory!
Regarding the Church
Do you feel distant from Covenant Church right now? Are you distant from Covenant Church right now? Have you stopped participating in worship?
Return to church in this New Year in Christ!
Consider carefully these words of the Lord Jesus in John's gospel:
“A new commandment I give to you, that you love one another: just as I have loved you, you also are to love one another. By this all people will know that you are my disciples, if you have love for one another.”” (John 13:34–35, ESV)
Jesus commands us, "Love one another."
Return to the church.
And I guarantee that you will find yourself loved and welcomed and it will be as if you never left.
Return to the church.
Come in order that you can love the church and so that we can love you. We want to.
Praise God for the new life and fellowship in the Lord Jesus!
